What is 09MnNiDR steel plate?
09MnNiDR steel is a low-temperature pressure vessle steel. Since nickel (Ni) is added to the steel, the steel plates can maintain a relatively high mechanical strength and toughness under ultra-low temperature conditions. And 9MnNiDR steel is mainly used for low temperature pressure vessels.
The 09MnNiDR pressure vessel plate was developed in the national special technical equipment specialization project. Firstly there has trial production, and the 09MnNiDR steel plates ranged thickness 6-120mm and with impact power AKV>27J at -70°C (2008 version impact energy increased to 34 J). Now the steel plate 09MnNiDR has been widely used in -45 ~ -70 °C low temperature pressure vessel. The nominally contains nickel content of 09MnNiDR is 0.5%, while in US &JIS standard the nickel content for lower temperature pressure vessel steels is 2.5%, and in German and French standard, the nominal nickel content for -60 ° C low temperature steels is 0.5%. So the technicals of 09MnNiDR steel plate is ahead in the world.
The delivery condition of 09MnNiDR pressure vessel plate has several type:
1. normalized state (Normalized);
2. normalized and tempered state;
3. Quenched and tempered.
The delivery condition will have different heat treatment conditions according to different steel grades. Usually 16MnDR, 09MnNiDR and 15MnNiDR are delivered in a normalized condition, and they can also be delivered in normalized and tempered according to customer requirements.
Compare with American standard pressure vessel plate SA537CL1 which only require -40°C impact test, the 09MnNiDR pressure vessel plate is better than SA537CL1 in the mechanical properties and the applicable. So at present the 09MnNiDR pressure vessel plate is wider usage than SA537CL1.
