What is Material SA387 Grade11 Class 2?
SA387GR.11CL2 is under the specification ASTM A387/A387M “Standard Specification for Pressure Vessel Plates, Alloy Steel, Chromium-Molybdenum”. And SA387 Grade11 Class 2 is a kind of chromium-molybdenum alloy steel plates intended primarily for welded boilers and pressure vessels designed for elevated temperature service.
Chemical Components of SA387GR.11CL2
For material SA387GR.11CL2, “Grade” for different alloy contents and “GR.11”means Nominal Chromium content 1.25% and Nominal Molybdenum Content 0.5%. Below is the detailed chemical content for SA387GR.11CL2:
Mechanical properties of SA387GR.11
For material SA387GR.11CL2, “Class” for two classes of tensile strength levels. Below is the detailed mechanical properties for differences between SA387GR.11CL2 and SA387GR.11CL1
Heat Treatment of SA387GR.11
The material SA387GR.11 shall be thermally treated either by annealing, normalizing and tempering, or, when permitted by the purchaser, accelerated cooling from the austenitizing temperature by air blasting or liquid quenching, followed by tempering. And the minimum tempering temperatures shall be 1150°F (or 620°C).
Application of SA387GR.11CL2
The material SA387GR.11CL2 is also a kind of heat resistant steel, so it usually used in Petroleum and petrochemical industry, chemical equipment manufacturing enterprises, power station construction, boiler and pressure vessel manufacturing etc.
